Teacher/lecturer name Yoshie Sekine (Aichi Gakuin University department of economics teacher, agronomy)
The holding year 2014

Theme
This year (2014), the United Nations has launched the “International Year of Family Farming”.
International organizations, such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), strongly insist that member governments should immediately shift their policies from promoting the large scale industrial agriculture to supporting family farming in order to solve the global issues of climate change and starvations. However, the Government of Japan promotes policies of agricultural exports, corporate entry into agriculture, and large-scale agricultural development in Africa. And, it is hard to say that the Government of Japan understands the U.N. Warning.

In this program, we will learn background and details of this paradigm shift, which brought a huge change at global level, and consider new direction for Japanese agricultural policy and its activity for sustainable development in Southern Areas.
As for the flyer of the day, please see this.
